As the latest signee of Ludacris' Disturbing Tha Peace label, Lil Scrappy's role on the team has been revealed along with upcoming film and music projects set to drop in 2009.
DTP co-CEO Jeff Dixon recently confirmed Scrappy's addition to the label along with why the Southern rapper was chosen.
"We're just excited to sign him because he's been in the game for a long time and he never got the shot he needed to get," Dixon said. "He has exciting music.... He brings another dynamic to our label. We're adding another dimension." Dixon said Scrappy's next album, on which Ludacris will serve as a co-executive producer, should be out sometime in September. This summer, Scrappy could be featured on a probable DTP tour. Until then, Scrap will be dropping mixtapes, appearing on albums from Luda and DTP labelmate Willy Northpole and shooting a film. (MTV)
Luda publicly endorsed Scrappy as an official member of DTP last weekend in Georgia.
Word on the streets net, former Lil Jon weedcarrier, Lil Scrappy is the newest member of Ludacris' label, Disturbin' Tha Peace. Luda brought Scrappy out during the Swagga Like Us concert in Atlanta over the weekend, and he announced it then, so it must be true. But then again, these rappers are always lying about something, so you just never know. (Ozone Magazine)
Luda also made the announcement via his Twitter page.
"Big show in Atlanta today at Philips Arena," Luda wrote unmodified. "If you don't have your tickets you're about to miss out!!! Surprises galore...Just got off stage at Philips Arena in ATL. If you missed it, myself, T.I. and [Young] Jeezy all on stage for the first time. Lil Scrappy is DTP." (Ludacris' Twitter)
Aside from executive producing Scrappy's new album, Luda is also prepping his collaboration album Battle of the Sexes.
"It's as simple as this, you got Ludacris, you got Shawnna," Luda said in a video last month. "It's what the people have been waiting for. Battle of the Sexes album is coming this summer. We droppin' a leak single, it's called 'Everybody Drunk As F*ck,' and then after that 'My Chick Bad.' Get ready for it, it's never been done before. An album with the female and male perspective battling out every single song. Ludacris. Shawnna. Can't nobody get down like we get down." (DTP TV)
