Still hiring in a recession, Cam'ron recently weighed in on what requirements he makes employee applicants undergo.
Cam takes matters of staffing up seriously.
"I went to college and didn't graduate from high school," Cam said in an interview. "To work for me and DukeDaGod, you gotta have a college degree if you want to work for us. Neither one of us has a college degree. Well, he does, but I don't have a high school diploma. So what's the irony of that? And if you work for us, we're not hiring you unless you have a degree. And you have to take a drug test. But we don't have a degree and we smoke weed, it's irony. (MTV)
Cam was once arrested for marijuana possession around 2002.
Rising rapper Cam'ron was arrested in New York on Monday (July 29) and charged with drug and weapons offences. Cam and a male passenger were charged with criminal possession of a firearm, criminal possession of marijuana and criminal possession of a forged fire department placard (used for parking and toll privileges). He has also used drugs as a backsetting for films including Killa Season and a series of upcoming movies.
"First movie's called The Bakery featuring my man Bang," Cam said in a recent interview. "It's just basically about trafficking drugs from state to state. And of course I got Killa Season 2 coming out this fall. Killa Season 2, we shot a couple scenes but I haven't really been working on it. I have a date to shoot in June, from June 5 to June 25 I believe. Then it'll take me about two weeks to edit so it'll be on point. I've shot about two or three scenes that I'm gonna keep for that. I did Killa Season 1 like that, I direct, produce, starred in, edited, I did everything...I'd rather write my own movie and act in my own stuff." (Real Talk NY)
Despite not finishing high school, Cam was known for playing alongside Mase on his high school basketball team.
"I grew up in New York City: Harlem, New York," Cam said in an interview. "I played ball for probably two of the biggest amateur basketball organizations in the city. One being the Gauchos, the other being the Riverside Hawks. I went to Manhattan Center High School. I never graduated, but I came out of high school Top 25 in the country in the class of 1994. I ended up going to a junior college called Navarro Junior College in Texas, which is in between Dallas and Waco. I tore my hamstring when I was there, and I redshirted my first year. And when I came back home, I ended up getting back into the music business. (ESPN)
