News: Talib Kweli, David Banner & More "Dream B.I.G." At Biggie Smalls Event

Talib Kweli, Russell Simmons, David Banner and more are scheduled to appear at the upcoming "Dream B.I.G." celebrity auction honoring the late Biggie Smalls.
The event will feature work by renowned artist Marco.
Marco will host the silent auction coined on March 9, 2009 at the luxurious Prime Condos. March 9th marks the anniversary of the late Christopher Wallace's death. MarcoArt will donate a unique painting of Wallace ("B.I.G.") for a silent auction, with net proceeds going to Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation, which is dedicated to providing disadvantaged urban youth with significant arts exposure, access and education as well as providing exhibition opportunities to early and mid-career artists and artists of color. He will also be teaming with various sponsors including Simmons' Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation.

"I realize the importance of the arts in early childhood education, and I am so grateful that RHYTHM signed on as a sponsor in order to make this event possible." A number of urban artists and radio personalities are scheduled to appear.
The "Dream B.I.G." event is the first public showing of Marco's pop art masterpiece. Initially, the painting was unveiled at a private screening of the "Notorious" film at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. Faith Evans and the cast of the movie signed the painting. Confirmed guests include Russell Simmons, the legendary DJ Scratch, Talib Kweli, David Banner, Cipha Sounds, JoJo Brim, Joe Budden, the Ed Lover Morning Show, DJ Nickiee and a host of other music industry tastemakers. The event begins at 7 PM and will be hosted by Talia Coles who is a recording artist as well as the co-president of Couture Music. Music will be provided by DJ Kut of 105.1. (1888 Press Release)
The late Biggie Smalls' legacy was recently displayed on the big screen earlier this year.
Notorious, a biopic of slain rap artist Christopher Wallace, aka Notorious B.I.G., grossed an estimated $21.5 million from 1,638 theaters to post the best per-location average, $13,126, of the weekend. Film was distributed by Fox but produced and marketed by Fox Searchlight. Opening is the biggest ever for the specialty unit. (Variety)
