Death Row Records co-founder Suge Knight has thrown his support behind Chris Brown in the midst of negative attention the R&B star has received.
Asked about possibly working on a project with Brown, Suge answered by revealing his respect for the singer.
"Chris Brown is a lil' homie," Knight said in an on-street interview. "I got more love for Chris Brown than anybody. One of the things Chris Brown did before at the time my daughter was turning 14 years old, it was her birthday, and they were having a concert. He put her on stage, sang happy birthday, he didn't have to, showed a lot of respect and I respect him for that. So therefore, I'ma ride with him a thousand percent on whatever it is, period." (TMZ)
Ironically, Suge pleaded guilty to misdemeantor battery against his girlfriend Melissa Isaac last month stemming from a domestic dispute the couple had summer 2008.
District Attorney David Roger said police had lost contact with Isaac and without her testimony on the witness stand, prosecutors would have had a hard time proving beyond a reasonable doubt not only the domestic battery charge, but the three felonies. "Domestic violence is a serious issue in our community, and anytime we can get a domestic violence conviction without a victim cooperating, we're happy," Roger said. "We're hopeful the defendant will never batter a woman again, or he'll face more serious charges and consequences." (Las Vegas Sun)
While a project with Brown may happen, artists like Flo Rida have taken the publicized dispute with Rihanna seriously.
"I recorded a great song with Chris," Flo Rida said in an interview about his upcoming album R.O.O.T.S. "But I won't be releasing it now because of what's going on with him and Rihanna. It could have been my next number one." (Hollyscoop)
Both Brown and Rihanna are reportedly reconciling their relationship.
People and Us Weekly have reported Brown, whose hits include "Run It!" and "Kiss Kiss", and Barbados-born Rihanna, 21, spent the past weekend in Miami. E! Online reported paparazzi in helicopters buzzed over the private estate where they were reported to be staying, trying to get photos. (Reuters)
