Making headlines recently after declaring a rap truce with T.I., former adversary Shawty Lo has revealed the behind the scenes plan for the two emcees to unite, which was made last year.
The "Dey Know" rapper claims a plan was drawn up last November.
"Our last altercation was November 24th at the Dirty Awards," Shawty explained in an interview. "We talked like 15 minutes and he told his side of the story, I told my side of the story and we decided coming into 2009 we'll come into a clean slate...It was no better place to do it than in Bankhead at Club Crucial, and let the world see it...We already talked, so with me just being a man, I just went on up there and let the world see and when I went on stage, the crowd went crazy and we embraced each other." Both rappers came together as a symbol of rap peace at Tip's Grand Hustle showcase last Friday (March 6) night.
T.I.P. performs at his Club Cruciall for one of his final shows before he does his time. He brings out Big Kuntry King and the big surprise was Shawty Lo being brought to the stage during "Big Sh*t Poppin" to publicly end the beef. Smiling and affirming each other's presence on-stage, Tip confirms the duo's pact at the end of his song. "Eh my n*gga," T.I. told Shawty. "Bankhead in this motherf*cker!" (World Star Hip Hop)
Shawty's reference to the Dirty Awards related to a physical incident between his camp and T.I.'s.
"He didn't come with the intention of starting anything or feeding any negativity, he had even told his crew, 'Look, I need y'all to respect my set'," Shawty's manager Johnnie Cabbell told SOHH. "We ain't come to the show to support any beef or support anything that's going on 'cause there really ain't no beef." (SOHH)
Tip's truce with Shawty is one of many positive actions he's taken along with trying to better the lives of troubled teenagers in his new reality series.
The inspirational docu-series follows T.I. as he counts down the days to his impending March 2009 sentencing for weapons charges. "T.I.'s Road To Redemption: 45 Days To Go" will not only show T.I. as he attempts to help change the lives of desperate teenagers across the country, but will also offer a behind-the-scenes peek at the most private and personal moments of one of today's hottest most sought-after artists on the verge of leaving his glittering career for time behind bars.
