Cannon has confirmed the new deal and expressed his appreciation for the channel.
"I started my career here at Nickelodeon and am so excited to be back, serving as an integral part of TEENick as the in-house voice and representative for teens everywhere," said Cannon in a statement. "TEENick is their network and I am here to make sure this is an ultimate destination for and about them." (PR News Wire)
The network recently made headlines when Chris Brown withdrew his name from its upcoming "Kids Choice Awards" due to two felony charges he has from his publicized dispute with Rihanna.
Chris Brown has withdrawn his name from two categories at this year's awards. "Unfortunately, the controversy surrounding the incident last month has shifted the focus from the music to whether he should be allowed to be among those nominated," a spokesperson told CNN. Brown had been nominated in the Favorite Male Singer and Favorite Song categories. Brown was also featured on the Kids Choice Awards' Website yesterday (March 11) until his picture was taken down on the KCA Nominees page. (CNN)
Along with his new position at Nickelodeon, Cannon will also host NBC's upcoming "America's Got Talent" television competition.
"Nick exemplifies the spirit of 'America's Got Talent' with his talent, originality and an infectious love of performing and creating," NBC head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy said. "His popularity and appeal are sure to take the series to a new level of success." (Hollywood Reporter)
