Skull Gang leader Juelz Santana recently clarified the "gay" comments reportedly aimed at Internet bloggers, saying that his comments were misunderstood.
The Harlem-bred emcee released a video both apologizing and directing his attention to the "haters." Apologizes
"As far as haters, for you to sit behind a computer and just give off hate, and I didn't mean it as far as potentially you being gay, it's just almost like a gay act," Santana explained. "It was really just for the haters...And when I mean gay, it's no offense to gay people once again, because I have gay people that work around me. I'm comfortable, I do my business with them...It's almost like saying you're acting like a b*tch...To anybody who took it to that offense, I'm truly sorry from the bottom of my heart." Santana originally made controversial statements placing gay people and bloggers in the same category.
"I think the Internet is a plus and a minus," he said in an interview. "For one, it's the best promotion though in the world, especially when you don't have an album out at the time it's a beautiful way of promotion, you know what I'm saying? And it's free promotion at that. I don't really entertain the bloggers or the comments and stuff like that. Anybody that has time to sit and type at they computer might be gay to me. I mean just typing a comment. You could be typing and talking to somebody, but typing a comment on something that you see is kind of crazy to me." (BET Sound Off)
Rick Ross also offered a faux apology earlier this week for derogatory anti-gay statements and names he's called 50 Cent.
"I heard I offended the homosexual community," Ross said in a video. "I sincerely apologize to the people I've offended...And just to let the gay community know how sincere I am with my apologies, I'm offering and willing to do a record with an openly gay artist such as Curly, Curtis Jackson, 50 Cent...Even Elton John...Both two great gay artists...So now all the gays, we good. Peace." (WSHH)
Santana is currently working on a handful of projects including his solo album and a compilation disc with Skull Gang to follow-up last year's mixtape.
"Our mixtape is like an album," Santana previously told SOHH. "We did over like 750,000 downloads the first week. So I want to thank everybody who been supporting us...As far as music it's a hostile takeover. I'm putting up videos. I'm doing a video for every song on the mixtape. Even songs that we just playing with we just shooting videos for. We just doing it man, giving people what they need." (SOHH)
