Chris Brown has been slapped with two felony charges for the alleged assault of his girlfriend Rihanna.
The pop star is due to be arraigned this afternoon.
The L.A. County District Attorney has just charged Chris Brown with felony assault and making criminal threats, also a felony. The charging documents name "Robyn F." as the alleged victim. Brown will be arraigned today at 3:30 PM in downtown LA. A spokesperson for the D.A. tells TMZ he could face a maximum of four years and eight months in prison. (TMZ)
A recently leaked LAPD search warrant revealed new details of Brown's alleged altercation with Rihanna.
The warrant reportedly says that Rihanna and Brown were driving in his rented Lamborghini when Rihanna read him a three-page text message from an unidentified woman. An argument reportedly ensued. The report alleges that Brown tried to force Rihanna out of the car, but could not move her because she was wearing a seat belt. Brown allegedly shoved Rihanna's head against the passenger window and struck her several times when she turned to face him as he continued to drive. The alleged assault resulted in Rihanna's blood splattering on the interior of the car and her dress. (MTV)
The 19-year-old singer was arrested early last month.
Brown was arrested Feb. 8 on suspicion of criminal threats and is free on $50,000 bail. The arrest was made after Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a 911 call Feb. 8 reporting an assault and found a woman visibly beaten and bruised on a Hancock Park street next to Brown's rented Lamborghini. On February 15th the Brown issued a statement on the incident via his publicist
"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," he said. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong. While I would like to be able to talk about this more, until the legal issues are resolved, this is all I can say. (USA Today)
