Platinum-selling rapper Twista has signed a record deal with EMI and will release his next album Category F5 on the label.
The announcement was made late Thursday (February 26) evening.
Twista left Atlantic Records in 2007 and launched his own label, Get Money Gang Entertainment, in 2008. However, the "Slow Jamz" hitmaker has now secured a distribution deal with EMI that will see his forthcoming album Category F5 released in a joint venture with Get Money Gang, EMI and Capitol Records. The Chicago, Illinois-bred emcee based the decision on his fanbase.
"The hustle never stops," Twista said in a statement. "Over the last couple of years, I've just been thinking about what the fans want from me. And that was motivation enough to bring out another classic album." (PR-Inside)
Twista's forthcoming project will feature a variety of guest stars and producers.
Producers like Jim Jonsin, The Tastemakers, Street Runner, Good Will, MGI, Toxi and Traxster worked on F5, while Kanye West, Akon, Busta Rhymes, Fat Joe, Static Major and Bobby Valentino, among others, make guest appearances. (Billboard)
The rapper has over a decade of recording under his belt.
In 1999 Twista returned with Legit Ballin'. In fall 2002, Twista hooked up with Ludacris, Jay-Z, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and other rap moguls for the recording of his third album. Kamikaze came out at the beginning of 2004 and promptly hit the Billboard 200, riding the impetus of his #1 hit single "Slow Jamz." In 2005 he returned with the album The Day After and the hit single "Girl Tonite" with Trey Songz. Two years later Adrenaline Rush 2007 appeared. (All Music)
Category F5 is slated to drop this summer.
