Grammy-winning singer Ne-Yo has revealed a recent conversation he had with Rihanna and says he still would like to speak with Chris Brown before he makes a judgement about the infamous domestic dispute that took place.
The R&B superstar has offered his support and claims the singer is doing "fine."
"I wanted to talk to them before I made a comment," Ne-Yo said in an interview. "I spoke to Rihanna. She says she's fine. She didn't go into detail about what happened. I understand it's a painful situation...I haven't had a chance to talk to Chris yet. I just wanna sit down and talk to that dude and just explain if he doesn't understand: 'That's not something that's excusable, bruh. You have to get a little smarter about whatever it is going on in your relationship. You have to get a little smarter about how you handle certain situations.'" (MTV News)
Along with receiving support from other artists like John Legend, Jay-Z recently addressed the seriousness of her situation calling on all to support his young female protege.
"This is a real situation," Jay said in an interview. "You have to have compassion for others. Just imagine it being your sister or mom and then think about how we should talk about that...I just think we should all support her. She's goin through a tough time. You have to realize she's a young girl, as well. She's very young." (People)
Rihanna released her first public statement last Friday (February 20) since the incident occurred nearly two weeks ago.
"At the request of the authorities, Rihanna is not commenting about the incident involving Chris Brown," says the statement from her rep on Friday. "She wants to assure her fans that she remains strong, is doing well, and deeply appreciates the outpouring of support she has received during this difficult time." (Associated Press)
Releasing the statement on her 21st birthday, Brown has reportedly attempted to make amends with the singer.
"Chris called Rihanna to wish her a happy birthday," an insider said. "He's absolutely trying to get back into her good graces. He knows he's very much in the doghouse right now, and is doing everything he can to show her how sorry he is." (New York Daily News)
