LL Cool J has been chosen to star in the upcoming "Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS)" television series set to premiere this spring.
The rapper-turned-actor will reportedly play a trained ex-military official.
LL will play a tough but charming former Navy SEAL who works undercover for the NCIS unit in Los Angeles, California and is an expert on the Middle East. "NCIS" showrunner Shane Brennan created the untitled spinoff and exec produces for CBS Paramount Network TV. (Variety)
He will also be joined alongside by actor Chris O'Donnell.
O'Donnell would play a chameleon-like investigator called Callen. He is written as an average guy born to do undercover work as the ultimate chameleon, taking on different identities. (Seattle PI)
The first episode will be shown in the upcoming months.
The pilot for an offshoot from the hit police procedural series will air as an episode of "NCIS" this spring, just as the pilot for "NCIS" aired as an episode of "JAG." (Reuters)
LL has a strong track record with CBS.
He has had a relationship with CBS for awhile now. He starred in the network's 2007 pilot "The Man" and even when that drama wasn't sent to series, CBS attempted to redevelop the project just to stay in business with LL Cool J. (Hollyscoop)
