News: T.I. & Usher Among Honorees For Trumpet Award

With an eye on excellence and perseverance, T.I., Ludacris, Usher, and more have been nominated for the 17th Annual Trumpet Awards in Georgia.

The yearly Atlanta showcase honors the achievements of African-Americans who have displayed excellence and fortitude in their respective fields and have achieved despite immense odds.

Hosted by Sherri Shepherd and comedian Anthony Anderson, this year's showcase will feature an extensive line-up of honorees and celebrity attendees including Halle Berry, Fonzworth Bentley, T-Boz, Danny Glover, Regina Bell, Earvin "Magic" Johnson and many more.

With over a decade and a half of showcases, previous honorees have included black pioneers including Muhammad Ali, Quincy Jones, Ray Charles, Sidney Poitier and others.

The 17th Annual Trumpet Awards kicks off Sunday, January 25 in Atlanta.

In related news, Ludacris and OutKast's Big Boi will join forces this January to host the upcoming "Urban Ball" in Washington, DC. to celebrate the inauguration of President-elect Barack Obama.

"The Urban Ball" is currently scheduled to take place Tuesday, January 20.
