News: Ludacris & Nas Inauguration Balls Canceled Due To Low Tix Sales

Highly-promoted Inauguration Balls in Washington, DC, featuring Ludacris, Big Boi, Nas and more have been cancelled due to lower than expected ticket sales.
Various events including the "Urban Ball" were billed to feature big name entertainers.
Grammy winning rappers Ludacris and Big Boi have joined forces to host the upcoming "Urban Ball" in Washington, DC next month. Along with the rap stars, the event will also be highlighted with performances by T-Pain, David Banner, Fantasia, Lil' Jon, Monica, Bobby Valentino and more. (SOHH)
However, the anticipated ceremony was unexpectedly closed down.
Dionne Warwick may be headed back to San Jose sooner than she thinks. Her "American Music Ball" was cancelled because of slumping tickets sales. She couldn't see that coming? Don't pass it off to age either. Ludacris was hosting a ball as well that got 86'd for the same reason. Refunds will be made in 30 to 45 days. (TMZ)
Other balls were also canceled due to lacking sales.
The "Heroes Red, White & Blue" Ball at the Warner Theatre with Jamie Foxx, rapper Nas, guitarist Slash, and gospel star Donnie McClurkin scrapped its entire lineup and subbed in a band called Memphis Gold, reports our colleague Richard Leiby. "There will be a performance, but not as previously listed," said publicist Linda Roth. Ditto for the after-party with disco stars Chic, who were stunned by the sudden cancellation. Singer Sylver Logan Sharp told us in an e-mail: "I can't express how sick I am over this." (Washington Post)
