Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has reportedly revealed his signature Louis Vuitton sneakers designed exclusively for women.
The rapper-turned-fashion designer enthusiast recently confirmed the upcoming female kicks.
"I couldn't do a collection without including the ladies," Kanye wrote in his blog, originally in call caps. "I used to shop for the perfect sneaker for my girlfriends. The lux sneakers were usually too busy and the shapes would be a little off...and then Keds and Vans weren't lux enough. There's also a bone color of these not pictured here. It may not seem like it sometimes but I do it for the hood!!! I go hard! I begged them to make these -- girls, girls, girls girls....the girls I do adoooooooooore!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" (Kanye Blog)
West traveled to France's Louis Vuitton show last week where he announced a new rap alias.
"Oh, hey world. As you can see, I'm in Paris, chilling -- due to the transactions early this week, I have some very, uh, grim news," West said in a video. "I know I've been called the Louis Vuitton Don, I know, I've been called a lot of names, uh mostly The Don, the Louis VuittonDon -- due to what happened -- when the red shoes hit the runway, I was forced to change my name, to, Martin Louis The King, Jr. Address me as such. And until then, I will be in the building, swagger on a hundred thousand trillion." (Kanye Blog)
Ye initially surprised attendees of the Paris runway event.
West, who has referred to himself as "the Louis Vuitton don" in songs, has been a frequent fixture at Vuitton shows, and this afternoon was sitting front row with a Cheshire cat grin, snapping pictures of the crowd, the clothes and especially the red leather and suede calfskin sneakers embossed with a subtle LV monogram along the edge. The show featured only a single style of sneaker from the collaboration, which rolls out to Louis Vuitton stores in June 2009. (Los Angeles Times)
The mega producer is rumored to be in talks of interning with a renowned fashion designer.
"I was blown away from the planet when he told me," famous designer Raf Simons said. "I know he's very seroius about this -- I don' take it as a joke -- but how can I imagine him being my intern? It's a very extreme situation." (New York Times)[Do you think Kanye West should stick to music instead of clothing? Share your thoughts at The Dougie.]
