Travis McCoy recently inked a solo deal with T-Pain's Nappy Boy Entertainment but the Gym Class Heroes front man insists that this new side project will not break up the band.
In a recent performance documented by a Thr33 Ringz webisode video clip, the Auto-Tune king is shown on stage offering fans a first public announcement of the union.
"Check this out, I wanna bring somebody back on-stage," Pain tells the screaming crowd. "I'm gonna make this real quick -- everybody get your phones out, you ready? Ladies and gentlemen, [McCoy] signs to Nappy Boy Entertainment."
In a recently posted interview with Digiwaxx Media McCoy explained how the deal came about and insisted that this does not mark the end of the Gym Class Heroes.
"I started working on a couple tracks with Detail who has done a lot of production for Akon. I played a couple of joints for Pain when the tour started [and] he was just blown away.
"Gym Class Heroes is, was, and always will be the priority. Anybody who has followed Gym Class Heroes knows that I've had seven or eight projects on the side of Gym Class Heroes since the beginning. I always have to be creative or I get depressed and sad. So this is just another project. I just happened to be joining up with Pain and Nappy Boy to get it out there to people."
The 24-city outing will feature support from Gym Class Heroes, Keri Hilson, and Keyshia Cole and is slated to kick off on December 14 in Miami at the American Airlines Arena. The tour is currently slated to run through a January 19 date in Worcester, Massachusetts.
