Excerpts from a new book, Publicity Stunt: The Art of Noise are clearing up those nasty little rumors about Rihanna and Jay-Z thanks to the admission of publicist Jonathan Hay, who is now claiming responsibility for fabricating stories about an affair between the two to help push her single, "Pon De Replay."
In a recent interview with Associated Content Hay comes clean, admitting, "Along with one of my partners, I then began to fabricate stories of Rihanna and Jay-Z, leaking false rumors to tabloids, working internet message boards, etc. We started to get an insane amount of media coverage very fast. There are so many things we did that people don't even know about, not even Rihanna herself...My whole agenda was to get media for the song."
Hay adds, "When the rumor surfaced that Jay-Z had a new love life and was cheating on Beyonce...that was just to get attention...I feel awful but, yes, I leaked some of those stories. Looking back, I am ashamed of that; there was zero integrity in that maneuver. But this is entertainment and I wanted to obtain publicity - so I came up with some crazy stories and it worked. Rihanna is one of the biggest stars in the world now, and look at how she stormed into the business! Not to take anything from her - she is a great artist - but every artist needs a launching pad and there is nothing better than a good scandal to get the public's attention."
Rebel Talking... Sorry Jonny boy but everybody knows the secret to Rihanna's success isn't your pack of lies - it's that haircut that hides her forehead!
During a press conference in New Zealand today, Kanye West decided to sing... Beyonce's praises! But not without disrespecting music icon Tina Turner.
"Nobody really wants to recognize that Beyoncé is a f*cking living legend and that she is just as great, if not greater, than the artists that we had in the past...that she's probably greater than Tina Turner," he said.
Rebel Talking... From his own biggest fan to a Beyonce-crazed Stan... Damn Yeezy Yeezy we don't know you no mo'.
Always Love You
Don't go looking for any new duets between Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. Despite widespread rumors of a possible reconciliation after the former couple were publicly spotted together in Atlanta, Whitney brought the chatter to a halt by having a her publicist issue a statement denying the talk.
Whit's spokesperson Nancy Seltzer called a recent report in the Chicago Sun-Times "a complete fabrication." The article said Houston and Brown, who divorced in April 2007, were seen in Georgia enjoying an intimate dinner.
Rebel Talking... Glad to see somebody turns down Superhead's sloppy seconds.
Speaking of crackheads... Amy Winehouse's estranged husband Blake Fielder Civil told the UK's News of the World that he's responsible for his wife's addictions to heroin, crack cocaine and self-harm--because he introduced them to her.
"I dragged Amy into it and without me there is no doubt that she would never have gone down that road. I ruined something beautiful."
Blake also added, "Now I have to let her go to save her life. I am not abandoning her. I am doing this out of love."
Blake also says that Amy asked him to let her try crack cocaine as she watched him taking it, cut her arms after she saw him self harm and how he watched her fall into a seizure after an all-day drug binge.
The currently rehabbing junkie doesn't seem completely sure about letting Winehouse go though, apparently he's considering resorting to reality TV to save their marriage.
"Blake has told me he's been asked about doing 'Celebrity Big Brother.' Amy is a fan of reality TV and Blake knows she will be watching it. He thinks it is the perfect chance for him to show Amy he is off drugs and loves her to bits."
Rebel Talking... Forget "Celebrity Big Brother," a reality series about Blake and Amy would undoubtedly put "Being Bobby Brown" to shame.
