Akon
Akon's Freedom debuts at No. 7 with over 110,000 copies sold in its first week while Beyonce Crew's Cadillac Records soundtrack sells less than 16K.

The Grammy nominated singer's 2006's multi-platinum selling Konvicted cleared 280k in its first week, more than double the sales number for Freedom.

Akon recently spoke with SOHH to discuss his global theme on the new project. "This record is more European than the norm and that's only because when I made this record I was actually touring in Europe," Kon told SOHH. "This whole album was made while I was on the tour bus. I just can't help but write about my surroundings and what I'm going through at that particular time."

Akon was recently on Chelsea Lately, where he gave the potty mouthed talk show host a smack. While on the show, he talks about the album's title, Freedom and how it is a departure from Konvicted."Somewhere along the line the message got distorted, " he said. "[Being in jail] was an experience that changed my life...I was trying to be a model to those that were in that same position. You can use your gift as a tool to move forward."

Legendary Houston rapper Scarface also debuted this week with Emeritus grabbing the No. 24 spot selling more than 42,200 discs. Reportedly offering hip-hop fans his final rap album, Face decided to go out with a bang tagging along guest appearances by Lil' Wayne, Bun B, Bilal, Slim Thug, Z-Ro and more.

He also provided production by mega beatmakers like Sha Money XL, Cool and Dre,Nottz, Jake One and others.

Another notable release is the motion picture soundtrack Cadillac Records which opened at No. 66 with about 15,700 discs sold. Featuring new material from the film's star Beyonce Knowles, the recording also features cuts by Raphael Saadiq, Mos Def, Nas, Solange and other big names.

Be sure to check back tomorrow for a full run-down of this week's releases on SOHH's Sales Wrap column.
