News: Charles Hamilton Says He's No Soulja Boy, "Don't Compare Me To Somebody Who Made A Great Marketing Ploy"

Charles Hamilton recently explained why he believes the commercial image of labelmate Soulja Boy Tell 'Em sparked unwanted comparisons that framed him as a gimmick.
In a recent radio interview, Hamilton blamed his Interscope labelmate Soulja Boy for the hate he's been receiving on the net. "I'm not trying to play Soulja Boy but chill. It's because of Souja Boy that my day to day, the way I live, the Sonic the Hedgehog shit that's dead real to me is considered a joke."
Charles Hamilton is a young rapper from Harlem who inked a deal with Interscope Records' boss Jimmy Iovine
earlier this year.
Yesterday Hamilton released the Pink Lava Lamp, the last installment in the eight part mixtape series and internet marketing scheme he calls The Hamiltonization Process. Much of his mixtape music centered around his obsession with the video gaming system Sega Genesis and its once popular character Sonic The Hedgehog.
Hamilton told ThisIs50.com that his obsession with the video game character started way before he inked his major label deal.
"I been on my Sonic shit since before the deal," Hamilton said, in an attempt to explain why he is no gimmick. "Jimmy [Iovine] did not tell me hey we're trying to work with Sonic. I developed my own shit over time. I been the same me. So don't compare me to somebody who made a great marketing ploy when I'm just living my life regular."
According to Hamilton he and Soulja have two different objectives in
the music industry. "He want to make you dance. I want to make you
think," he said.
Hamilton's latest release, The Pink Lavalamp, is an album that was recorded back in 2006 and 2007 during what Charles describes as the darkest period of his life. It's currently available online.
