News: Akon Gets Animated, Launches Cartoon Contest

Grammy nominated singer Akon has teamed with an animation site to allow fans to create original animated videos for his songs.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the mega selling artist signed an exclusive deal with to give users the ability to compete for a chance to create an animated version of one of Akon's videos.

"We are very pleased to announce this partnership with music superstar Akon," executive Stone Newman said in a statement. " gives Akon fans the chance to actively interact with one another."

In addition to using the singer's music and available themes, the site is known for letting users create custom, movie-style animations with various Saturday morning cartoon characters, politicians and celebrities.  

In related news, the platinum selling singer pleaded guilty yesterday (December 18) to harassment for tossing a fan off stage at a summer 2007 concert in New York. Despite not facing any time behind bars, Akon will reportedly be required to pay a $250 fine and serve 65 hours of community service.
