R. Kelly's 16 year-old nephew has been charged with attempted murder stemming from a failed robbery that took place earlier this month right outside of Chicago.
According to Chicago's Sun-Times, Brayel Kelly was recently charged as an adult and also faces an additional count of attemped armed robbery and aggravated discharge of a firearm.
Reports claim the teenager finished receiving a haircut at Calumet City's Marvelous Cuts Barber Shop on November 6 around noon and proceeded to demand the owner's jewelry and cash by placing the items into a plastic bag. As Kelly allegedly offered the bag, the owner grabbed his own pistol which led to an exchange in gun fire as the nephew left the shop attaining bullet wounds.
Kelly was rushed to the Advocate Christ Medical Center after local residents phoned police of a wounded victim.
The teenager is currently in police custody with a bond set at $200,000.
As previously reported by SOHH, Brayel's father - Kelly's estranged brother Carey - was initially suspicious to claims of his son's involvement claiming he was most likely the victim of another person running the failed robbery.
