News: Suge Knight Sues Kanye Over Party Shootout, Robbery
Wednesday, Nov 12, 2008 10:10AM

Former record label mogul Suge Knight has sued Kanye West
for over $135,000 stemming from a gun shot wound and robbery attained
at the producer's pre-MTV Video Music Awards party in August 2005.
According to TMZ,
Suge filed the lawsuit late October and is alleging Ye should be held
responsible for allowing an unnamed gun totter access through the
event's security in Miami, Florida leading to him being shot in his
right leg and robbed of a diamond stud earring.
"As
the hosts of the Party, Kanye West and G.O.O.D. Music also owed the
guest of the Party a duty to maintain the Party premises in a
reasonably safe condition," the suit reads. "While at the Party,
shortly after midnight at approximately 12:40 a.m. on Sunday, August
28, 2005, Mr. Knight was in a VIP room at The Shore Club, where he was
shot in the upper right leg. Mr Knight did nothing to provoke the
shooting, and he is unaware of who shot him and why he was shot."
In addition to suing for negligence, personal injury and premises liability, Suge also alleges conversion.
"Mr.
Knight is informed and believes and based thereon alleges that the
earring had a reasonable fair market value of $135,000," it reads. "Mr.
Knight is informed and believes and based thereon alleges that the male
employee, who found but failed to return the earring to Mr. Knight
either directly himself or through defendants, had the intention and
purpose of converting the earring to his own personal benefit and
actually did so."
Along
with attaining damages and seeking reimbursements for "the loss of use
and enjoyment of the earring," Suge also would like Ye to cover all
attorneys' fees.
A rep for either party was unavailable at press time.
