Jay-Z, Diddy and Mary J. Blige united this morning in North Philadelphia continuing their "Promote The Vote" campaign for tomorrow's presidential election.
According to Philadelphia's CBS 3, the trio made their appearances around 10:30 a.m. on Monday (November 3) encouraging city residents to allow their voices to be heard by voting in this historic election between Democrat hopeful Barack Obama and Republican candidate John McCain.
The hip-hop moguls were also present at South Florida's Memorial University yesterday (November 2) hosting their "Last Chance for Change" rally supporting Obama alongside Russell Simmons and Kevin Liles. The hip-hop heavyweights urged voters to stand their ground despite long lines, according to the Associated Press.
"We stood in line to get the new Lil' Wayne CD," Liles told the crowd. "We stood in line to get a new pair of Jordans. We stood in line to get here. So we ain't afraid of no lines."
Diddy also stressed the overall importance of tomorrow's election.
"It's bigger than us," he expressed to screaming fans. "We have to do it for our children, we have to do it for the people that died for us to have the right to vote."
Expanding support to his own concerts, Jay also reminded fans at Power 105.1's Powerhouse 2008 event last week of the growth this election represents.
"How many people in here registered to vote," he asked the audience. "I ain't telling y'all what to do, I'm telling y'all what I'm going to do. I'm going for Barack Obama, that's what I'm doing. This is one of the most important elections of our lives. Rosa Parks sat so Martin [Luther King Jr.] could walk. Martin walked so Obama could run. Obama's running so we all can fly. Let's get fly tonight, New York City!!!"
Today, both presidential candidates will be spending their final full day before the election visiting difficult states including Pennsylvania and Ohio hoping to lure in undecided voters.
