Chicago rapper Terrance "Bump J" Boykins has been arrested and charged with a 2007 bank robbery.
According to Chicago's WBBM,
federal authorities attained the rapper earlier this week after he was
stopped by local police during a routine traffic stop. He has been the
target of a nationwide search by Chicago FBI's Violent Crimes Task
Force since September 2008.
J was indicted before a federal grand jury on one count of bank robbery and violation of federal firearms statutes.
A witness believes there were two men, including J, involved in the January 4 robbery of a Chase Bank where the robbers were equipped with handguns and forced bank employees to hand over more than $100,000.
J is currently being held without bond at the Carbondale Police Department until he returns to Chicago where he will be officially charged and placed behind bars. If convicted, J faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
The other suspect in the case has yet to be charged.
Bumpy J who was once signed to Atlantic Records, has recorded songs with fellow Chi-town rapper Kanye West and Rhymefest and has dropped several mixtapes including 2006's DJ Drama hosted "Chicagorilla."
