Hot off the press this week Beyonce grows up and blows up, Justin Timberlake gets pimped, T-Pain jerks off and Jon B. battles Robin Thicke.
Ready 4 Jelly
After fasting to play Deena in Dreamgirls, Beyonce was thrilled to pack on the pounds for the role of Etta James in this December's Cadillac Records.
"I gained almost 15 pounds to play the role," Bey told People magazine. "It was way easier - and tastier - than having to lose so much weight for Dreamgirls.
The singer turned actress added that the role also helped her grow emotionally for her upcoming album I Am.
"Lyrically, it's deeper than what I've done before. I wasn't mature enough or old enough or in touch with myself enough, to do this type of album before. I didn't have the guts."
"This is a new chapter for me," she added. "I'm terrified, but excited. It's like I'm a new woman."
Rebel Talking... Sorry Bey, slimmy or thickums, there's never much new about you, in fact these "new woman" quotes sound eerily similar to the ones you had after doing Dreamgirls.
Jungle Fever (Or Dreams Of... An R&B Chick)
Justin Timberlake recently opened up to MTV about his newfound collaborative dreams, sharing, "I'm going to go pimp myself to Leona Lewis, 'cause I think she's an amazing singer," he exclaimed. It turns out Leona's not the only R&B chick he's hot for either.
"[Recently] I worked with Rihanna, hopefully working on her next record," he said. "She's on a roll. I think she sort of has something different to offer. You can use her voice as a template for many different styles. She has a keen fashion sense and on top of that she's hot. Whatever it is, she's got it."
Rebel Talking... Watch out Jessica Biel, once JT goes black, he won't be coming back!
T-Pain just happened to go overboard with the over-sharing in a recent interview with Blender. The rappa-ternt-sanga told the mag that he and his wife like to exercise their freaky side.
"My wife and I download pornos together," Pain shared. "She goes with me to strip clubs. She'll be tipping b*tches and everything."
Fortunately he's not shy about sharing his appreciation for her either:
"I'll be at a club, just surrounded by h*e's, and I'll literally call my wife, like, 'I'm so, so happy I married you.'"
Still, that doesn't mean the two always keep the marital bed rockin'. Pain also explained his "I don't need your sex, I'll masturbate" lyrics in his song "Therapy" on the upcoming Thr33 Ringz:
"See, that line comes straight out of my life!" he says. "I'm married, and I jerk off all the time. Some R&B singers act like they getting sex every night. T-Pain is here to tell you: Ain't no one getting sex every night!"
Rebel Talking... That was one visual I definitely could do without. Now I'm hoping his freaky side doesn't have anything to do with this circus theme he's so fond of.
Great White Hype
Jon B. recently talked to World Star Hip-Hop about his "honorary" status in the R&B game:
"I think when people think of me, they think of someone being authentic. It's not about me being white no more. I think I've proved myself through the years as a soulful cat bringing that good music."
Jon also initiated a challenge to another "soulful cat" in the game, fellow singer/producer Robin Thicke.
"It's not a beef between me and Robin Thicke -- I do want to say I'll battle you any day if it's about piano skills. This is to my man Thicke. 'I love what you do, but nobody ever ever is going to replace Jon B. That battle is on if you want that. Come see me!'
Rebel Talking... Both great singers, both married to black women, both work with rappers, speaking of which -- Tupac > Lil' Wayne. I love Robin Thicke, but I'm gonna have to ride with Jon B. on this one!
But while you were waiting on that T.I. /Rihanna video , Bell Biv Devoe were plotting their comeback and D'Angelo was getting his physique chiseled for his own return!
