Helping to unite urban artists from across the globe, rapper Pharoahe Monch will be hosting the CMJ (College Music Jounal) sponsored "Global Hip-Hop Throwdown" international showcase in New York later this week.
Bringing
together a diverse group of talents traveling from Africa, Korea, Canada
and Europe, the one-night extravaganza is set to allow performers the
opportunity to show off their skills both behind the mic and on the
decks. Led by Monch, the Queens-bred rapper recently expressed his
anticipation for the event with SOHH.
"I'm very excited to be hosting the Global Hip-Hop Throwdown," Monch told SOHH. "I have benefited greatly from the international hip-hop scene and through my extensive touring in Europe, Australia, South America and Asia."
He also bases his exposure to music outside of the United States as a qualification for hosting the event.
"I have seen some of the most innovative and cutting edge music come from outside of the states," he added. "We will have a great night of music as these artists from all over the world perform for a US audience at the CMJ conference."
Located in New York's East Village, the CMJ event will also feature performances by up-and-coming artists including Blitz the Ambassador, Mr. Reo, King Reign, DJ Soulscape and more.
The "Global Hip-Hop Throwdown" will take place Thursday, October 23 from 8 p.m. to 3 p.m. EST
