R&B superstar Ne-Yo will be coming to theaters soon as he prepares to both star and executive produce the upcoming romantic film Venice Beach.
According to Reuters,
the Def Jam hit maker will play the role of a gifted musician who
helps inspire a young female that gives up on her dream of
becoming a singer.
Coming from Venice Beach, Ne-Yo begins a love-based relationship with
the Manhattan Beach 18 year-old, as the two begin their quest for musical careers facing both resistance and disapproval from friends and family.
In addition to the film's production, the platinum-selling crooner will also be penning the soundtrack as Duane Adler begins writing the script. Ne-Yo last worked with Adler in 2007's Save the Last Dance 2.
While a director has yet to be announced, recent talks hint at Paul Hunter taking the position. Aside from directing 2003's Bulletproof Monk, Hunter has also directed music videos for major artists including Eminem, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Marilyn Manson.
The
upcoming film will mark Ne-Yo's first major starring role as he has
only appeared in two films beginning last year including the
dance-based flick Stomp The Yard.
