News: Nas Pumps Up Water Charity's Mission

Helping to raise awareness of the global water crisis, Nas has stepped forward to offer his image and support for the non-profit organization, charity: water.
With
over 1.1 billion people across the planet without access to sanitary
water, the Queens-bred rapper has decided to contribute his photo and
join a series of other celebrities - including model Selita Ebanks and actor Alan Cumming - to help raise funds and insight into the humanitarian issue.
Committed to funding projects that install and rehabilitate fresh water systems, charity: water has built over 470 wells throughout Africa, India and Bangladesh.
The organization is currently being supported by Australian denim company Nobody and Ivan Kane's Cafe Wa s in Hollywood, CA, who have decided to launch a global gallery of images to be displayed throughout stores to represent the project's cause.
Coming up with an idea to create the "Nobody Wa s Thirsty" t-shirts benefiting the project, Hartwell revealed that each one "we sell can provide 2 people with clean water for 20 years."

Speaking about charity: water's importance and the impact Nas will have on increasing awareness, Nobody's creative director, Wesley Hartwell, gave SOHH the inside scoop.
"charity: water drill wells and fund water projects in the developing world,
and 100 percent of their donations go to the cause," he said. "That is
the cause and that is what has moved Nobody to join with a team of
creative individuals to be a part of this project and donate their time
and profits. Nas supported the project and believed in it. The
whole project is about the charity. We think Nas is an amazing artist
and we are privileged that he would support the project."
Coming up with an idea to create the "Nobody Wa s Thirsty" t-shirts benefiting the project, Hartwell revealed that each one "we sell can provide 2 people with clean water for 20 years."
"To
support the project, a series of portraits of individuals wearing the
tee was captured," he explained. "The idea was to create a gallery of
portraits, not 'shots of celebrities wearing the tees' but something
more interesting and iconic. Nas was actually on his way to the airport
for a concert in Africa, but made time to come and support the project
on the way to the airport."
The
shirts will be made available online through November via
www.nobodywasthirsty.org with all profits made going directly towards
the charity: water organization.
