50 Cent, Kanye West, Ludacris, Beyonce, John Legend, Nelly
and more have come together to show their support for veterans of the
Iraq and Afghanistan wars with the upcoming event, "A Night for Vets:
An MTV Concert for the BRAVE" airing later this month.
According to the Associated Press,
the mega stars will unite for the one-night show which will include
both live and pre-recorded performances from each artist as they pay
homage to the efforts made by the men and women who have been called to
duty.
"It
doesn't matter where you stand on the war, we can all agree that young
veterans serving our country must receive the benefits they've earned
for their sacrifices," MTV Networks president Van Toffler told AP. "We aim to elevate these issues and ensure they're a top priority for our government officials."
Being
taped a day prior to airing, the performances will be exclusively held
in front of an audience of war veterans and their families at a venue
in New York.
Additional celebrities scheduled to appear at the event include Kid Rock, Will Ferrell, Jennifer Hudson, Fall Out Boy, Saving Abel, Angels and Airwaves, Juanes and Taylor Swift.
Teaming up with CNN, MTV will feature news packages throughout the special.
This is not the first time MTV has lent its support to U.S. troops. As previously reported by SOHH, MTV personality Sway
and Kanye teamed up for the news special "Choose or Lose & Kanye
West Present: Homecoming" last summer surprising vets by hearing their
stories and rewarding them by paying off debts, helping them with
school costs and integrating them back in to society.
"A Night for Vets: An MTV Concert for the BRAVE" will air on Friday, October 24 at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
