Friends and family members of Travis Barker and DJ AM have come forward to inform fans that both men are progressing in their recoveries. The pair sustained second and third degree burns during a plane crash that left four others dead over the weekend.
According to US Magazine, Barker's former wife Shanna Moakler has released a statement thanking people for their concern for Blink 182's ex-drummer.
"There are not enough words to express how thankful we are for the outpouring of love and support we have received during this very difficult time," Moakler wrote. "We can only ask for prayers as we heal and mourn the loss of our dear friends who we considered part of our family. Our lives will be changed forever."
DJ Steve Aoki and Jermaine "JD" Dupri also paid Barker a visit while recovering.
"It's a seriously sad situation," Dupri told US Magazine. "He's doing good--but I really hate to see my friends go through this."
According to TMZ, an unnamed source claims DJ AM (born Adam Goldstein) is also doing well.
"[He is] ambulatory and in good spirits."
As previously reported by SOHH, both artists were taken to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia last Friday (September 19) when their flight crashed while taking off from Metropolitan Airport in Columbia, South Carolina. Despite the seriousness of the injuries, both men are expected to make full recoveries.
While there are various theories as to the cause of the crash, the National Transportation Safety Board has reason to believe it may have been due to a tire malfunction. The jet's tire manufacturer, Goodyear, has responded to accusations.
"We have been contacted by the [National Transportation Safety Board] and will cooperate fully with its investigation," a statement reads. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims of this accident."
According to TMZ, a coroner has released the cause of death for the four victims that claims Chris Baker and Charles Still, Barker's assistant and bodyguard, died from blunt force trauma while the pilots died from smoke and fume inhalation plus thermal injuries.
