G.O.O.D. Music affiliate 2 Chainz recently updated fans on the status of his long-awaited third solo studio album and revealed what free project he has on deck.
According to Deuce, he has plans to release an underground effort called T.R.U. Jack City in the near future.
“Top of the year is the rollout of the whole campaign with my third album in three years and then I’ve got this mixtape called Tru Jack City. It’s my mixtape, but it’s for up-and-coming rappers in Atlanta. … It’s real ratchet, it’s real street. It’s catered for the core. We’re a crew full of individuals. It’s one thing about T.R.U. It’s about being the real you. We just putting on. We got something to bring to the table and we got something to say.” (Revolt TV)

The rap star recently revealed his next solo album would arrive next year on social media.

Chainz recently said his previously titled B.O.A.T.S. III had undergone a complete makeover.
“It’s just time to turn the page, it’s a new chapter, it’s a new day and a different campaign,” Chainz said in an interview. “I think its more Tity Boi, it’s more circa ’05 and ’06, when I had [the] 745 Beamer swag with cornrows. But with better instruments, more music behind it, more storytelling and more heartfelt. I can’t leave the trap alone.” (MTV)
Earlier this year, Deuce said the follow-up to his Freebase EP would not be titled B.O.A.T.S. III.
“I’ve been looking at boats, like real boats,” Chainz said in an interview. “Nah, we not even gonna call the next album B.O.A.T.S. It’s gonna be a whole new campaign. I can’t wait to come back in. I’d rather that than show y’all what’s up with that. Somebody else said [B.O.A.T.S. III], they said I’m working on a new album so they automatically started to [call it that]. But this one right here, it’s a whole new campaign and it’s actually piggybacking off Freebase. Everything has a reason, just know what I’m doing, so the title of my third album won’t be Freebase, but it’ll piggyback off this lifestyle, this culture and it’s gonna be fun doing that too. I’ve been working on material for that as well.” (MTV)
