Atlanta rapper 2 Chainz has scolded hip-hop artists currently copying his blueprint by putting in time to remix his records.
Chainz hopped on Twitter Friday (July 27) to dish out his moment of clarity.
“Everybody alwayz REMIX my songs. how bout u lazy artists, try 2kom up wit sumthn original, instead of replacing my words wit urs. MUSIC is fun,” he tweeted.
“RT @ToFlashy4U: @justinbieber ft @2chainz Boyfriend remix is poppin I just heard it on Music choice #Swaggy” (2 Chainz’s Twitter)
Last fall, fellow Atlanta rapper T.I. vowed to remix any hot record.
A while back the Grand Hustle general mentioned that he might be on Jay-Z and Kanye West‘s “N*ggas in Paris (Remix).” When asked about the status of that record, T.I. said, “Well, I officially have recorded my verse. And I haven’t spoken to ‘Ye. I let ‘Ye hear it . I think ‘Ye let Jay hear it as well. I don’t think a determination has been made on whether or not it is going to be official. But if it’s not official, it will be unofficial. It will be heard one way or another. I will assure you that.” But that’s not all. T.I. wants to add his vocals to more songs. “I’m looking for some more records to jump on,” he said. “That’s what I’m doin’ right now. I’m commandeering hit records right now. I’m hijacking hit records. If you got a hit I’m on it.” (XXL Mag)
A couple months ago, Young Money star Drake reflected on Chainz’s current rise to fame.
“Like I say in the song, ‘Me and Chainz go way back,’ that’s no lie,” Drake said in an interview referring to their “No Lie” collaboration. “I spent a lot of my early days with Young Money on the road with 2 Chainz. We definitely built a rapport. It’s great to see him at the top of his game right now. The world loves him and it’s well deserved. He’s a hardworking guy.” (MTV)
G-Unit’s 50 Cent recently showered Chainz with a flurry of co-signs.
“[Potentially hot artists?] Definitely 2 Chainz ’cause he’s been around. He’s one of them guys that’s finally having a moment. I remember when he was in Playaz Circle. I know it’s been years and years of work. And the kid Future. He’s got some hits under his belt that ain’t under his name, like that ‘Racks’ joint. I watch. It may seem like I’m doing business in different areas and doing different things, but my passion for music hasn’t changed.” (Shade 45)
