Fans hoping Hot Boys reunite at least one more time for a group album can send their thanks to 2 Chainz as new footage shows the core members back together for his upcoming “Used 2″ music video.
New footage of the Boys in Chainz’s Mannie Fresh-produced single’s music video surfaced online heading into the weekend.
For all intents and purposes, Cash Money Records – and the various hands that it’s passed through over the years – is the rap industry’s GOAT. So a little family reunion in the Na’wlins soil that birthed it is always a reason to get excited. Peep this making of video for 2 Chainz’s “Used 2? visuals – Weezy, Juve, Mannie and Turk in all their Big Easy glory, having fun and generally looking like its 1999 all over again. (Smoking Section)
Turk recently hit up SOHH and hinted at something big in the works for diehard Hot Boys fans.
“It’s official, we all about to do something real big,” Turk promised SOHH when asked about the original Cash Money Records family coming back together. “It’s Hot Boys sh*t. That’s all I’m gonna say right now. You heard me? [laughs] Like I’ve been saying from the beginning, we’ve never had no beef. It’s just been a misunderstanding like any other family would have. The bloggers weren’t hearing that. We didn’t do it for the bloggers, we did it because that’s just how it is. We rock with each other. It’s all love, everybody was just doing their own thing but now it’s time to bring it all together and make something so epic that it ain’t ever going to be touched or matched again. Remember it’s free B.G.!” (SOHH)
Last month, Cash Money boss Birdman, former Big Tymer member Mannie Fresh, plus a slew of other notable Cash Money artists including Turk came together for a tribute-based BMI Awards ceremony.
Past and present Cash Money Records stars reunited in celebration of label founders Brian “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams at this year’s Broadcast Music, Inc.’s R&B/Hip-Hop Awards held in New York City’s Manhattan Center Thursday (Aug. 22). Ray J split hosting duties with BMI President and CEO Del Bryant and Vice President Catherine Brewton while Juvenile, Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Turk, Mack Maine and Mannie Fresh were all on hand to salute Birdman and Slim’s coveted BMI Icon honor, spotlighting their “unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers.” (BET)
The gathering became even more memorable when former Cash Money artists Juvenile, Turk and Mannie linked up for a Hot Boys tribute.
The duo was also treated to a star-studded music tribute featuring performances from DJ Khaled, Mystikal, Future, Curren$y, Ace Hood, Busta Rhymes and more. Each rapper did their interpretation of a Cash Money classic, leading up to a Hot Boys reunion set of “Bling Bling” performed by Juve, Fresh and Turk. (BET)
