[As 2012 fades away, SOHH’s dropping a daily list of the 13 biggest things to look for in ’13. Today, we’re busting out the boxing gloves and ringing the bell on what hip-hop beefs are bound to steal our attention this year.]
1. 50 Cent Vs. Lloyd Banks
While this might be one hip-hop beef we hope doesn’t go down, there’s no telling what’s going to transpire between 50 Cent and Lloyd Banks this year. It seems like the whole G-Unit gang is doing just fine, but in terms of unity, Lloyd Banks seems detached from anything related to 50 Cent. Even Tony Yayo is hanging around 50 whether it’s at the BET Hip Hop Awards or over in Puerto Rico. Is trouble brewing?
2. Kat Stacks Vs. Your Favorite Rapper
She’s only been released from immigration services for a few weeks now but rest assured it’s going to be a matter of time before Kat Stacks starts going off on her classic rants, all caught on video. Before she lost two years of her life, Stacks had every rapper going at her, from Game to Nelly to Bow Wow to Soulja Boy. Pretty established rappers, and then there’s all the accusations she made as well. It may not be tomorrow, the day after or even this month, but rest assured the Kat’s coming out of the bag.
3. Kanye West Vs. Jay-Z
Call it friendly competition, but the two biggest rappers in the game are now looking more in more alike. They’re both huge stars, they’ve got incredibly gorgeous girlfriends (wife for Jay-Z) and in just a few months they both will share the fact they’ve got kids. How long before Kanye finally pulls Jay to the side and tells his “Big Brother” he’s bigger? It may not spill into the mass rap beefs, but trust there could be a little tension brewing.
4. Azealia Banks Vs. Insert Name
Azealia Banks has claimed hip-hop is not her true passion or love and, in fact, she sees herself retiring a little bit further down the road. In the meantime, who’s next to get served by Banks? She’s already racked up some pretty notable hip-hop enemeies including T.I. and Jim Jones. Is AB going for a TKO in her next beef?
5. Chief Keef Vs. Interscope Records
Chief Keef’s got a lot on his plate, especially $6 million waiting for him once he turns 18 later this year. Turns out Chief Keef signed a $6 million record contact with Interscope, the same lable that’s been rumored to be trying to drop him from the label. Could you imagine getting dropped from a multi-million dollar deal after months and months and never even getting a chance to touch the money? Sounds too good to be true and unless it is, then expect Chief Keef to have some words for Interscope over receiving the sum of his deal come his 18th birthday.
